Chronological aging, the “numbers game,” can have a powerful impact on us as we move from our 50’s forward.  It’s a time when we realize how much we don’t understand about the aging process and we begin to question what we can do to ease the journey of yes, growing older. Recently I heard a Boomer say, “It is only the afternoon of our lives, with so much more to do and to accomplish.”  I liked that!

We Boomers, in our 50’s and beyond are re-examining this journey we’re living.  We’ve become positively committed to personal wellness, re-defining our goals, and merging our life purposes with our spiritual growth.  Using the many holistic wellness resources becomes

“The boomer wellness pill” and many of us are utilizing this more natural approach to wellness.  This approach includes resources found in Nature, movements such as Yoga, Qi Gong, and other various exercises that combine meditation, music, and nutrition.  All together, these resources form a working synergy that will guide us into living new and improved purposeful lives. It all sounds good and I think to myself, what color is this pill and where do I find it? Fortunately, not really a pill at all. Theodor Seuss Geisel, also known as Dr. Seuss, author of The Cat In The Hat at age fifty three (1958), wrote You’re Only Old Once at age eighty two.

I read an article in the Wall Street Journal on my recent trip to New York entitled, “The Case for a Mid-Life Gap Year.”  More and more Baby Boomers are burnt out and many are trying to plan their futures by taking a career break to reflect or re-energize and restart their engines.  One 59 year old couple expressed they’re not too old or too set in their ways to prevent them from imagining a new life giving rise to adventure and better ways to live and yet still have fun!  They want to incorporate joy and laughter into their daily lives.  They want to extend their lives and enhance their lifestyles.  I know how they feel for I want the same. I, along with them have a plan and developed a guide.

Thank you Ann for such a beautiful compliment. You write so well!!:) As Virginia Wolfe put it, ” I don’t believe in aging. I believe in forever altering ones aspect to the sun. Hence my optimism. ” We are celebrating many significant birthdays this year and the meaning only belongs to us. ( our sons today turning 30, yours and many others)
Love, peace and blessings my dear friend xoxo

    Hi Heidi,
Congratulations on seeing this, your blog and it looks like fun.
I am 70 years old and do not believe that I am old at all. Now that I am 70, I have enjoyed more and worried less. My children are grown with their own children and the responsibilities we once had and enjoyed are no longer ours. We get the benefits of not having to plan everything and have it at our house, which is now too small for all the family.

I hope to have a great grandchild sometime so I can hold babies again. Nothing is promising in that area!

I see, Heidi, that your gift of communication and seeing are well appreciated. Looking forward to the Re-Wire Guide to read and be inspired.

Hello Heidi. I see myself reflected in your words. I, too, want to start a new path at the age of 58, having been a widow for a year. I, too, want more adventure and laughter in my life, and a more finely focused purpose.

On the weekend, I had a profound experience where I felt that I was stepping into a new life. I have a daily meditation focused on changing perceptions. Some days I feel as if I am going forward. Other days, not so much. I would love to read your Re-wire Guide when it is available.
